Directional Driller
Position: Directional Driller
Location: Houston, Texas
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Project Supervisor / Construction Manager
Position Summary:
The Directional Driller is responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment to install underground utilities such as conduit, fiber, and other infrastructure. This role requires technical skill, attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate directional drilling equipment safely and efficiently
- Read and interpret bore plans, utility maps, and job specifications
- Set up, operate, and maintain drilling equipment and tools
- Coordinate with the Locator and ground crew to ensure safe drilling operations
- Monitor bore path and make adjustments as needed
- Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance
- Maintain a clean and safe job site at all times
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a directional driller or drilling assistant preferred
- Knowledge of underground utility installation
- Ability to read utility locates and bore profiles
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus, but not required)
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical labor
